Former actress Angelica Jones faces raps over alleged verbal abuse of staff

MANILA, Philippines — The former staff of actress-turned-politician Angelica Jones Alarva filed a complaint against her in the Office of the Ombudsman over alleged verbal abuse.
Samantha Ladiana Alaisa went to the anti-graft court to file her complaint-affidavit against the provincial board member for alleged Grave Misconduct and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service.
“I am earnestly seeking justice for her actions and the hurtful, insulting, and degrading things she has said about me and my character,” Alaisa said in a six-page complaint which was marked as received by the anti-graft body.

“I am hoping that the Office of the Ombudsman will help me get justice because Ma’am Angelica is currently an official in Laguna and has influence in our area, which I fear she may use to intimidate me and obstruct my complaint in Laguna,” she also said.
Alaisa said she was a staff of Alarva from January 2021 hanggang June 2022, and she returned in July 2025.
The complainant said the alleged verbal abuse began in July 2025.
“At first, I tried to be understanding and patient because I thought that I might have been the one at fault, but she did not stop saying bad words against me,” Alaisa said.

Alaisa said Alarva allegedly called her “tanga” (dumb) “bobo” (stupid) and “inutil” (useless) and even alleged insults against her for not finishing her college education.
“This has caused me deep emotional distress because I have been performing my work properly and diligently, and I was unable to finish college due to my family’s poverty,” she said.

Due to chest pain, Alaisa then went to the doctor for check-up, but the latter recommended the complainant to go to a psychiatrist.
According to Alaisa, the psychiatrist then diagnosed her with anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress disorder.
“When Board Member Angelica Jones B. Alarva learned that I was experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, I thought she would stop saying hurtful things to me, but that was not the case,” she said. “Instead, she even stated in our group chat that I should be removed from my position because I had a mental problem and this caused me even greater emotional pain and distress.”
Alaisa said she was terminated in December 2025.
