The Very Best Things We Saw at New York Fashion Week — On and Off the Runway

  • Coach’s 85th Birthday Party

Kicking off the fashion festivities bright and early — a day before the official week began — Coach set out to test the “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” hypothesis with its Spring 2027 presentation and 85th anniversary celebration afters. BRIDGE, Zack Fox, and SG Lewis serenaded attendees under a larger-than-average disco ball at Pier 36 along New York’s East River. And because no birthday fête is complete without cake, a dessert taller than many attendees was wheeled out onto the dance floor to cap off the night.

  • Tommyyy at The Plaza

When it comes to paying homage to New York City, no one does it better than Tommy Hilfiger. Having done shows at the Apollo, on a Staten Island Ferry, and in the Grand Central Oyster Bar, the brand raised the stakes again by presenting its Spring 2027 collection at The Plaza Hotel. The show had all the hallmarks of a Tommy presentation: a Gigi Hadid appearance, New York Knicks old (Carmelo Anthony) and new (Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart), and americana for days. To cap it all off, Slayyyer popped out for a rousing rendition of “UNKNOWN LOVER” to close out the show.

  • Milk, Rhian Teasdale & The Dare’s Dance Party

They’re making new sentences that have never been said before every day now, so here’s a stab at one: Did you hear Rhian Teasdale play that remix of Bhad Bhabie’s “Gucci Flip Flops” at Marquee on Saturday night? In front of a massive 20-foot LED screen showing someone absolutely crushing it at Subway Surfers, the Wet Leg frontwoman kept the dancefloor moving before passing it off to The Dare wearing his signature blazer. Earlier in the night, Milk Studios and Milk Makeup celebrated their 30th and 10th birthdays, respectively, with the latter unveiling a new campaign fronted by Teasdale.

  • Kai Cenat’s Vivet Goes Nostalgic

Kai Cenat’s debut Vivet show at Cipriani recalled the streetwear fervor of Kanye West’s Pablo era. Across three acts, hoodies and sweatpants gave way to heavy leather overcoats, then tailored suiting and silk. The streamer community’s presence made the evening feel innovative: These were Cenat’s contemporaries, people from the world in which he’d built his career. For all the skepticism surrounding his ambitions, Cenat put on a show that made his commitment to fashion difficult to dismiss.

  • Public School’s Music Assembly

To kick off fashion week, Public School gathered some of music’s legends (Slick Rick) and mainstream newcomers (Baby Rose) alike to show off their 2027 Spring collection. The latest capsule included sharp tailoring juxtaposed to the fluidity of thigh-revealing shorts. For the final walk, models marched to the beat of KRS-One’s “Step Into a World (Rapture’s Delight),” a personal highlight for attendee Swizz Beatz: “It’s one of my favorite KRS-One songs, I’m from the Bronx.”

  • J.Crew Heritage & House Parties

Kegs, solo cups and salty potato chips were served alongside Petrossian caviar and frothy martinis at J.Crew and Eckhaus Latta’s NYFW house party inside The Players, the storied Gilded Age members club in Gramercy. The night was billed as a meeting of “two distinct creative communities,” and the guest list backed that up: Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff mingled among ‘Love Island UK’ stars Grace Jackson and Luca Bish; while ‘Girls’ creator Lena Dunham posed with model Paloma Elsesser. Also in attendance were singer and actor Moses Sumney; comedian and actor Matt Rogers; and ‘The Shards’ co-stars Hayes Warner, Igby Rigney and Graham Campbell.

  • A Birthday Bash at Bergdorf

This summer, America celebrated its 250th birthday. Bergdorf Goodman’s been around for half of it. On the eve of fashion week, the storied department store put on a celebration toast to its cultural influence for well over a century, from being the preferred shopping destination of Carrie Bradshaw or where Jackie Kennedy trusted to help get her fits off. The night capped off with Ravyn Lenae serenading the crowd who made it uptown to celebrate the New York institution.

  • Calvin Klein’s Music Maestro

From the Grammys to the Garment District, songwriter and producer Kid Harpoon (best known for his work with Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”) teamed up with Calvin Klein to soundtrack the brand’s intimate Spring 2027 show. Crafted at Electric Lady and Power Station studios, the show’s soundtrack featured the work of Solange Knowles and Laurie Anderson with an emphasis on clean, acoustic sounds. “I focused on natural and organic elements like marimba, piano, vibraphone, live drums and cello melded with some more modern elements,” Kid Harpoon tells Rolling Stone.

  • Live From The Mercer

Nestled in the old Mercer Kitchen space, away from both peering eyes and any solid cell phone service, Marc Jacobs Beauty made its big return to the scene. Attendees crowded around a beauty bar to try out the product, sipped spicy margaritas, and discussed where they were off to next. Outside, a faux yellow taxi created a photo opp that served the influencers waiting in line to flick up as much as it provided entertainment for the folks eating a late dinner at Fanelli Café. Ah, the duality.

  • Paper’s Trumpet Sidekick

Sure, Anderson Paak (or DJ Pee .Wee?) crushed it with his DJ set at indie magazine Paper’s celebration of their collaboration with Lexus and Ambush. And it was cool that duo Sofi Tukker and Saweetie mingled through the crowd. But I’m writing this blurb for one person and one person only: the trumpet player who alternated between the DJ booth and the dance floor, playing along as Paak alternated between the classics (Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You Been Gone”) and the new crowd-pleasers (songs off Drake’s ‘Iceman’). Also, content creator N3on was there streaming the whole time. That’s…something.

  • Ended Up (Back) at 1OAK

If you went clubbing in the 2010’s in New York’s Meatpacking District, it’s extremely hard to not be romantic about the corner of 17th Street and 10th Avenue. What’s now a pretty dormant street with a condo building and a Joe & The Juice (sick) used to host the thrilling 1OAK nightclub to Artichoke Basille’s Pizza pipeline every night (or rather, early morning). For one night only, 1OAK made its return to its former space, hosting a dance party with Chase B, Ramsey Austin, and KITTYSAYWORD on the decks and one of the most chaotic doors in the city — just like old times.
