KUALA LUMPUR: Former Nepal captain Binod Kumar Das has been appointed chief operating officer of the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA).

Binod brings nearly 30 years of cricket experience as a former Nepal national team captain, coach, administrator, and International Cricket Council (ICC) master educator.

Before joining the MCA, Binod was cricket operations manager at the Cricket Association of Nepal.

He has also served as tournament director for major ICC and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events, including the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers, ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2, and the ACC Men's Premier Cup.

MCA president Mahinda Vallipuram said Binod brings a valuable combination of international playing experience, technical knowledge, and proven expertise in cricket operations.

"His appointment comes at an important time for Malaysian cricket. We want to sharpen our focus on high performance, strengthen our national teams, and aim to move Malaysia higher in the ICC world rankings.

"Our priority is to translate the investments we make in coaching, player development, and cricket infrastructure into measurable improvements on the field. I am confident Binod will play an important role in driving this agenda forward," he said.

Binod said his job is to ensure Malaysian cricket meets its goals.

"By setting clear performance targets, strengthening our development pathways, and ensuring greater alignment between our programmes and national team objectives, we can work towards improving Malaysia's rankings and competing more consistently against stronger cricketing nations," he said.
