Pidcock ‘mad’ after two teammates collide with police motorcyclist in Italy

Translate

Tom Pidcock revealed that he considered quitting the Tre Valli Varesine after two teammates crashed upon being hit by a police motorcyclist.

The British rider’s Pinarello-Q36.5 colleagues Marcel Camprubi and Thomas Gloag were struck with six laps of the finishing circuit left. Jarno Widar won the race with Pidcock finishing second.

“A police motorbike was going the wrong way down the course and crashed into two of our guys,” Pidcock said. “First of all I wanted to stop racing myself – I was mad. I had guys riding in front of me – for me – and two of them were on the floor.

“Luckily Marcel was OK, he could continue. Tom was also OK in the end but he stopped the race and has some stitches in his knee. Things like this shouldn’t happen.”
