Asian Games 2026: TN CM C. Joseph Vijay announces Rs. 50 Lakh reward each for relay stars Vithya Ramraj, Vishal TK

The Indian mixed relay team won silver in the 4x400m relay at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium on Thursday.

The relay outfit features two runners from Tamil Nadu, Vithya Ramraj and Vishal T.K., who both received adulation from the state’s Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

In a post on social media, CM Vijay announced a Rs.50 Lakh cash reward each for the pair.

The duo are also supported by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu’s ELITE Sports Persons Scheme, which provides an annual scholarship of Rs. 30 Lakh for selected top athletes from the state. The scheme has 50 athletes under its ambit currently.

TN CM Vijay has also announced similar rewards for badminton player Hariharan (Rs. 30 Lakh), who was part of India’s bronze medal-winning men’s team, and cricketer G. Kamalini (Rs. 75 Lakh), who was part of the gold medal-winning Indian women’s cricket team at the Asiad.
