Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to find appreciation within the film industry even months after its release. The Ranveer Singh-starrer has particularly drawn praise for its grounded treatment of the spy genre, with several members of the film fraternity pointing to its approach to storytelling.
Actor Nimrat Kaur has now said that the film has changed the expectations around spy thrillers in Hindi cinema.Speaking to ANI, Nimrat discussed the impact of ‘Dhurandhar’ on audiences and said that the film’s authentic portrayal has influenced the way viewers look at spy films. According to her, audiences now expect a greater degree of “authenticity” from films belonging to the genre. While referring to ‘Dhurandhar’, Nimrat Kaur said, “When something is done so well that people have tasted of how authentic something like that can seem.
So obviously now everything when the bar is raised, which I do believe every once in a while a film comes our way where you’re like, oh, this is the same story, but told in a way which we’ve been waiting for. Everything better be at par or better than that or else, you know, let’s not attempt it.
You know, that is going to be the general perception."Nimrat also suggested that ‘Dhurandhar’ has come to represent a certain standard of authenticity within the Hindi film industry because of the way its story and world were presented.
“When a story is told to its I think maximum potential, in the most authentic way possible, to the world that you’re trying to project and show, it no longer becomes, oh, ‘just another spy film’. Then it’s like, oh, wow, Dhurandhar," added Nimrat Kaur. The actor’s comments come after the impressive theatrical run of ‘Dhurandhar’ and its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. The two films, released in late 2025 and early 2026, respectively, went on to make a major impact at the box office and became a talking point within the industry.Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ features Ranveer Singh in the lead role. , Akshaye Khanna and Sanjay Dutt in prominent roles. The franchise has reportedly crossed the Rs 3000 crore mark in worldwide collections following its blockbuster theatrical run.
