‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’ Trailer Captures Emotional Punch of Metal Icon’s Final Show: Watch

The movie chronicling one of the greatest hard rock concerts of all time is coming to theaters next month and on Thursday (Sept. 24), fans finally got a sneak peek of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning. The minute-long trailer for the film documenting late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne‘s final show is packed with emotion, tension, tears and, of course, the indomitable spirit of the Blizzard of Ozz himself.

“There’s never been a precedent for a show like this,” says the event’s musical director, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello in voice-over as the camera pans over the 45,000 metalheads who gathered at Villa Park in Birmingham, U.K. on July 5, 2025 to celebrate Ozzy’s nearly six-decade career in music.

“Millions of people around the world who got to say, ‘thank you Black Sabbath. Thank you Ozzy,'” Morello continues over footage of Osbourne performing with Sabbath at the gig. The movie opens in theaters worldwide on Oct. 28 for a limited time, with tickets available now here.

While the concert itself was an all-day affair that featured sets from Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and Tool, as well as all-star jams featuring Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Draiman, Papa V Perpetua (Ghost), Ronnie Wood, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker and Yungblud, among many others, the film will cook those hours of performances down to a two hours and thirty minutes of footage.

In addition to the live sets, a press release promised personal reflections from the performers about Ozzy and Black Sabbath’s inspiration on their music and careers, as well as behind-the-scenes insight from host Jason Momoa and Morello.

The concert took place in Osbourne’s hometown, on his favorite soccer club’s home pitch just 17 days before the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer — who performed from a bespoke throne after battling a variety of medical issues in the final years — died at 76 on July 22, 2025.

In the trailer of the film directed by Ben Wainwright-Pearce and produced by Mercury Studios, Ozzy’s beloved wife/manager, Sharon Osbourne, reveals, “he was told he probably wouldn’t make it through the show, [but] he said, ‘No, I’m doing it, whatever happens happens.'” Welling up with emotion, Ozzy tells the crowd, “You have no idea how I feel” as the thousands of fans sing a chorus of his 1991 Billboard Hot 100 Nov. 28 solo power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home” back to him. The preview ends with a heart-swelling image of Osbourne smiling and squirming with joy in his throne.

According to the release, among the performances featured in the film are: Osbourne (“I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Suicide Solution,” “Crazy Train,” “Mama, I’m Coming Home”), Mastodon (“Supernaut”), Anthrax (“Into the Void”), Tool (“Hand of Doom”), Yungblud (“Changes”), Alice in Chains (“Fairies Wear Boots”), Slayer (“Wicked World”), Guns N’ Roses (“Never Say Die”), Metallica (“Hole in the Sky”) and Black Sabbath (“War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man,” “Paranoid”), as well as songs from Rival Sons, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Gojira and Pantera.

Also included are sets from Morello’s All-stars, including Barker, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, RHCP’s Chad Smith, Tool’s Adam Jones, and Danny Carey, former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing, Living Colour’s Vernon Reid and many more.
