Turkish Airlines has announced plans to increase its weekly flights between Istanbul and Lagos from seven to 10, effective 11 December, to accommodate rising demand for travel between Nigeria and Türkiye.

This was contained in a statement made available to correspondents by the airline on Monday.

The expansion, the airline said, will give passengers more travel options and greater flexibility when planning international trips, particularly those connecting through Istanbul to destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

The airline said the additional services would strengthen its Nigerian operations and improve access to its network of more than 350 destinations, supported by a fleet of over 560 aircraft.

The development follows the increase in its Istanbul-Abuja services to seven weekly flights from June 2026, further strengthening air connectivity between Nigeria and Türkiye.

The airline said the additional frequencies were designed to support both business and leisure travel, offering passengers improved access to its extensive international network through Istanbul.

Beyond flight availability, Turkish Airlines said its premium passengers would continue to enjoy additional services at its Istanbul hub.

“For Business Class passengers connecting through Istanbul, the journey is further complemented by access to the award-winning Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport,” the airline stated.

The lounge provides a premium transit experience for eligible passengers, complementing the carrier’s wider focus on international connectivity and passenger comfort.

The increase in Lagos frequencies also highlights the importance of Nigeria to the airline’s African network, with the additional flights expected to provide greater capacity on one of its key Nigerian routes.

The move comes as airlines continue to adjust capacity and schedules to respond to passenger demand, strengthen connecting traffic and improve access to international markets.

Starting on 11 December 2026, the additional flights are expected to give Nigerian travellers greater flexibility and convenience while strengthening connections between Lagos, Türkiye and destinations across Turkish Airlines’ global network.
