Trump demands probe into 'extortionist' Democrats who are threatening to impeach Republicans

President Donald Trump has waged war against members of the Democratic Party whom he says are extortionists who are sending threats of impeachment to GOP politicians.

The president, who is still reeling from a disastrous 'bluenami' midterm win this week, called for a probe into what he believes is 'extortion at the highest level.'

He demanded the Department of Justice (DOJ) immediately investigate those Democrats who are sending the threats, pointing to Michigan's Senator Elissa Slotkin by name.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday: 'The Democrats are going around threatening a lot of people, including the Attorney General of the United States, and others, with Impeachment and many other forms of punishment, even though they admit they have no reason to do so, and there have been no impeachable acts committed, or even thought of, by the victims of this illegal process.

'This is extortion at the highest level, and they should be held accountable for this.'

He also accused Democrats of 'threatening our Donors' with 'imprisonment and many other levels of punishment, just because they happen to be Republicans or Republican supporters.'

'This is Weaponization and Lawfare at another level,' he wrote.

'The Senator from Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, is saying that she is going to go after all young people that believe in Republican Values, and that give even the slightest inclination to be a Republican.

Donald Trump demanded the Department of Justice immediately investigate those Democrats who are sending the threatening letters, pointing to Michigan's Elissa Slotkin by name

'This is extortion at the highest level, and they should be held accountable for this,' he wrote on Truth Social

'The imprisonment should be against these EXTORTIONISTS, and Republicans should get smart, fast!'

He also claimed 'threatening letters' have been sent to some Republicans, and therefore, he is 'ordering the Department of Justice to look into this criminal act, immediately!'

It is unclear what the letters said or who they were sent to.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House, the DOJ, and Slotkin for comment.

His outburst comes after he teased he would be firing more of his inner circle after letting go of his Chief of Staff Susie Wiles on Friday.

Trump, 80, sat down with 60 Minutes yesterday, just hours before he would announce Wiles' departure and replace her with Stephen Miller.

'I do,' the Republican replied after journalist Ross Douthat asked him if he expected to let anyone go after his party suffered massive losses in the midterm elections on Tuesday.

The Democrats took hold of both the House and Senate, and managed to flip deep red Texas by electing Gina Hinojosa as governor and James Talarico to the Senate.

'The Senator from Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, is saying that she is going to go after all young people that believe in Republican Values,' he wrote. 'The imprisonment should be against these EXTORTIONISTS, and Republicans should get smart, fast!'

'I love my cabinet, I think they're good,' the president continued. 'But I'll be doing maybe a few changes. I don't want to mention who.'

Sources told CNN's Kaitlan Collins that the rest of Trump's cabinet is in a 'knives out' environment.

'It’s hard to overstate, really just how factionalized that environment has become in the last several days alone,' Collins said.

'Aides that’ve I spoken with have described a workplace that is filled with tension and infighting, likening it to the knives-out days of the president’s first term.'

Sources told Collins that Wiles' departure 'will only accelerate the shift in the balance of power that is underway right now.'

Trump reportedly blames Wiles for the Republican Party's demise in the midterms, CNN's sources said.

However, Trump told reporters on Friday it was 'not because of the election.'
