In short:

Police found the body of a 48-year-old man in bushland in Brisbane's north on Sunday morning.

The discovery came after two dogs attacked a 37-year-old man in the same area on Friday night.

What's next?

Investigations are underway, and police say they cannot rule out the dogs' involvement in the man's death.

Police say they are unable to determine whether two dogs that attacked a runner in Brisbane's north were also involved in the death of a man found nearby.

Officers found the body of a 48-year-old man in bushland off Kittyhawk Drive at Chermside just before midday on Sunday.

Authorities had been searching the area after a 37-year-old man was mauled by two dogs on Friday night.

Police shot both of the dogs, which then ran away.

One of the animals was located on Friday night, and the other was captured on Saturday morning. The dogs are alive and in Brisbane City Council's custody.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Regional crime coordinator Andrew Massingham said the man who was found dead often slept rough in makeshift camps in the area.

"Due to the body's state of decomposition, police are unable at this time to rule out any potential involvement of the dogs involved in Friday night's attack," Detective Superintendent Massingham said.

"We simply don't know at this stage if they have contributed to his death or had some involvement post-mortem."

Detective Massingham said a post-mortem analysis showed the man died sometime on Friday.

Police have urged anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.

"We are particularly appealing for any person who may have heard anything unusual in the park vicinity between 4pm and 6pm on Friday afternoon,” Detective Massingham said.

Investigations are ongoing, and forensic sampling and analysis are underway.
