Govt boosts decent housing with local MSMEs empowerment: Minister

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government continues to expand its home renovation program, subsidized housing distribution, and empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the use of local building materials.

Minister of Housing and Settlement (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, also said the progress of the home renovation program has seen significant growth.

"This is part of a program created by the government. Last year, we had 45,000 homes renovated. This year, the number increased to 400,000," he informed after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (October 26).

In addition to home renovations, the government continues to expand access to homeownership through the subsidized housing program under the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP), enabling more people to purchase homes through affordable financing schemes.

On the occasion, Sirait also reported on a program to develop a clay roof tile MSME industry in Majalengka District, West Java.

According to him, the program helps local businesses increase production capacity and meet quality standards through mentoring and certification under the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

"There are 34 MSMEs that have passed the SNI with the production reaching 2.4 million clay roof tiles," he explained.

The minister emphasized that strengthening local micro, small, and medium enterprises is an integral part of the national housing program, as it connects housing development with regional economic growth.

"We aim to empower local MSMEs by prioritizing the use of locally produced materials. For example, products from West Java should be used in West Java, and those from Central Java in Central Java," he said.

On that occasion, Sirait also conveyed that President Prabowo is paying attention to the development of the ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) program, which prioritizes a comfortable, beautiful, and healthy Indonesian environment and empowers MSMEs.

The program is being prepared to improve the quality of residential environments while promoting greater participation by local businesses.
