IPOH, Oct 3 — Two temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Perak to house 58 people from 17 families affected by floods in the Hilir Perak, and Larut, Matang and Selama districts.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said all the victims had been placed at the PPS at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Degong in Hilir Perak and the PPS at Kampung Menteri Mosque in Larut, Matang and Selama.

“The PPS at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Degong is sheltering three victims following floods in the Jalan Kampar-Langkap area at 4pm last Thursday.

“The PPS at Kampung Menteri Mosque, meanwhile, is sheltering 55 victims from 15 families following floods in the Kampung Menteri area at 8pm yesterday,” it said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms in Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim this afternoon, with rain expected tonight. — Bernama
