Tom Pelphrey paid tribute to his “crown jewel” of a family while accepting his first Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series on Monday night.

The 44-year-old won for his role as Robbie Prendergrast in HBO’s Task, beating out The Pitt stars Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy and Gerran Howell; The Morning Show’s Billy Crudup; Slow Horses’ Jack Lowden; and Pluribus’ Carlos-Manuel Vesga.

After being hugged and congratulated by visibly thrilled but tearful fiancée Kaley Cuoco, he paid tribute to his family onstage.

“To my favorite actor in this room — my love, my best friend, my partner — the very pregnant Kaley Cuoco,” he said. “I love you more than anything, and our family is the crown jewel of my life.”

“Matilda, Daddy loves you,” Pelphrey continued, shouting out his and Cuoco’s 3-year-old daughter, before acknowledging their soon-to-be second child. “Baby girl in that belly. Daddy loves you. Thank you. God bless.”

Pelphrey got cheers from the audience at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles as he kicked off his speech by sharing how thankful he is for his sobriety. He also saluted Task directors and castmates, with a special nod to costars Raúl Castillo, Emilia Jones and, “my friend, the beautiful Mark Ruffalo.”

“Thank you to Brad Inglesby for this incredible role and this opportunity and your friendship,” he added about Task creator and writer Inglesby. “You are an amazing human being. I’m so proud to be your friend.”

The award was handed over by Rachel Sennott and Odessa A’zion, who noted how appropriate they felt presenting the category.

“We are thrilled to be presenting the award for supporting actor in a drama because we are major supporters of actor drama,” quipped Sennott.

“We’re major, major supporters of actor drama,” added A’zion. “Any type of actor drama, we love. Two macho straight guys sitting in hair and makeup for two hours and then yelling at each other on set … it’s the drink. I love it.”
