Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe has opened up about a potential sequel to The Possession of Button House as it storms the box office. The big-screen release shot to number one following its opening weekend in cinemas, with the cast celebrating the huge achievement online.

The film continues the hit TV series Ghosts, which ran from 2019 to 2023 and starred Kiell alongside Charlotte Ritchie, Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond, all of whom reprised their roles for the film.

Following the success of the film, several fans have wondered whether The Possession of Button House could be followed up with a sequel, or if there could be another Ghosts film.

And while promoting his next film role in Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint, Kiell gave a positive update for fans.

Speaking about the reaction to the film, he told Digital Spy: "It was amazing, it's all we could have asked for. People love it, it was number one last weekend, very happy with it."

On the prospect of a sequel and whether he would appear again, he said: "Another one? I'd love to. I fancy another one; I'd love to, but you never know what those guys have got cooking. Fingers crossed."

Ahead of the film's release, Mathew Baynton also opened up to Digital Spy exclusively about its creation process, admitting he pushed for a certain character to be the "main ghost."

"I will say, in the early days of the series, when we were first conceiving of the show, Larry [Laurence Rickard] was like, 'I think Humphrey is my main [ghost]'," he revealed.

"And we were all going, 'Larry... Robin is going to be so good. People are going to love this character'."

Laurence added: "My pitch was, my main character would be Humphrey, and he always had his head on, apart from the odd gag where it fell off.

"And then once in a while, we'll see the little caveman character who will be the odd joke. Cut to five years later…"

Ghosts: The Possession of Button House is in cinemas now. Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint will be released in cinemas on 6 November.
