Luke Grimes says he hasn't spoken to Kevin Costner since 'Yellowstone'

Luke Grimes and Kevin Costner haven't spoken since their time on "Yellowstone."

During an interview with USA Today, Grimes explained that their relationship did not continue once Costner left the Taylor Sheridan series in 2024.

The outlet asked Grimes if Costner would ever make an appearance on his show, "Marshals," which Grimes shot down. "I haven't talked to Kevin since we stopped working together. Not for any reason other than we're busy guys and life moves on," he said.

Grimes admitted it would be "cool" if Costner joined "Marshals," but he "doubts" that would ever happen.

"If there was a flashback, I would probably rather it be with Monica [Kelsey Asbille] than John. I think that would be more poignant to the character, but we'll see," Grimes said.

Grimes and Costner starred in "Yellowstone" for four seasons together. Costner played John Dutton, the powerful patriarch of the Dutton family and owner of the Yellowstone Ranch, one of the largest cattle ranches in the United States.

Grimes played Kayce Dutton, John’s youngest son and a former Navy SEAL. In their series, Kayce was caught between his family’s ranching legacy and the life he wants with his wife, Monica, and their son, Tate.

Costner’s exit from "Yellowstone" followed a long-running scheduling dispute as production delays collided with his work on "Horizon: An American Saga." Costner said he had prioritized the series and disputed claims that he left simply to focus on his films, pointing to delays and a lack of scripts for the second half of season five.

In June, Sheridan was a guest on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" and said that Costner only agreed to appear as John Dutton for three seasons of "Yellowstone" and was ready to move on then, but decided to stick around once the show became a major hit.
