India batting icon Virat Kohli added yet another milestone to his name during the second ODI against New Zealand at Cello Basin Reserve in Wellington on Saturday. Before the start of the match, Kohli was tied with Ponting on 1,971 runs. He struck a boundary off only the second ball he faced to move past the Australian great.
Ponting's runs came in 51 matches and 50 innings at an average of 45.83, with six centuries and 12 fifties. Kohli, meanwhile, took just 38 innings to go past Ponting's mark.
