AST SpaceMobile secures Brazil spectrum, adds four mobile partners

Translate
  • AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) announced Monday that it secured spectrum approvals and signed agreements with four regional mobile operators to expand its planned satellite-based cellular broadband service in Brazil.
  • The approvals cover 30 MHz of S-band spectrum and secondary use of up to 20 MHz in the 700 MHz band.
  • The company plans to install four ground gateways in Brazil to connect its BlueBird satellite network with mobile operators.
  • Brazil has more than 210M people and over 200M mobile lines. AST SpaceMobile said coverage gaps across highways and agricultural land create an opportunity for satellite-based connectivity.
  • The availability will expand as satellite capacity, ground infrastructure, and network integration progress, subject to regulatory approvals.
  • On the market side, the ASTS stock traded ~1% higher to ~$40.21 in the premarket session.
