She said that she suddenly heard a loud pop then felt a sharp pain in her ear.
“Medyo nakakatakot yung time na yon kase kailangan kong abutin ang mga butanding and minsan yung malalaking butanding na ang lalim… Basta andaming complications pero pinush ko pa rin. Hanggang sa naring ko talagang pumutok yung tenga ko,” she said.
The scene supposedly involved hearing a gunshot in the background, and Brillantes said she felt disoriented at first that she instinctively swam to the surface.
She also had a nosebleed on top of the pain in her ear.

The candid moment made it to the official trailer of “Laya.”
“Laya” is a revenge drama directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, starring Brillantes, JC Santos, and Anthony Jennings. The movie is produced by Rein Entertainment.
Brillantes plays the character of Sab who has been plotting to avenge her father’s death. She tracked the supposed culprit Tuki, an ex-convict played by JC Santos, on an island, but finds that he has become an outcast in the community because of his physical condition.
But more than revenge, Bernardo said the movie also about second chances and wanting to have peace of mind.
“I think dito natin makikita kung sino tayo bilang tao. Magiging mapagpatawad ba tayo? At kung hindi, gaganti ga tayo? It’s really about second chances and forgiveness,” the director said.
On Brillantes playing the lead role of Sab, Bernardo said she is curious as to how the actress would play a character that has to show two different personalities.
“Sab’s character shoule be likeable but also frightening. What interests me about Andrea is that she is also likeable onscreen and has a very angelic face. So I’m very curious kung papano nya atakihin ang role nya,” she said.
