Hayden Panettiere’s Los Angeles home was searched by federal drug agents, with investigators reportedly looking for evidence that could help determine the source of a suspected fentanyl-laced pill.According to TMZ, law enforcement sources alleged that agents from the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed a search warrant at Panettiere’s Los Angeles residence on August 25, nine days after the actress passed away. Investigators were reportedly searching for evidence linked to 'black-market controlled substances'.

According to the report, investigators were interested in prescription and recreational drugs that Panettiere may have been taking.

The substances were reportedly collected and tested to determine whether any had been 'laced with fentanyl'.Agents also allegedly searched for 'drug paraphernalia', which could help investigators establish the actress’ drug use and potentially identify the sources of the substances. The search reportedly included prescription medication as well as recreational drugs.

The report also alleged that the actress had a “long time drug dealer” in Los Angeles who allegedly supplied her with several black-market prescription drugs, including oxycodone.

DEA reportedly tracing source of suspected fatal pill

The news report claimed that Panettiere had taken 'several drugs' from the alleged dealer on a flight from Los Angeles to South Carolina the day before her death. Investigators believe she took an oxycodone pill on the morning of her death and believe the pill may have been laced with fentanyl.The DEA’s Los Angeles division is reportedly examining Panettiere’s relationship with the alleged dealer, and attempting to establish whether the suspected fatal pill can be traced back to him.The investigation is reportedly dependent on toxicology results, which are still pending.

About Hayden Panettiere's death

Hayden passed away on August 16 in South Carolina at the age of 36. She was found unresponsive at the condo where she was staying with her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. Hickerson's brother, Zach, reportedly discovered her and contacted emergency services. According to TMZ, Hickerson administered Narcan to Panettiere before paramedics arrived, but she could not be revived.Panettiere’s exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed. Her autopsy found “no signs of trauma” that would have contributed to her death.
