Davina McCall shares new health battle after brain tumour and Alzheimer's symptoms

Translate

Davina McCall has opened up about a new health battle on her podcast Begin Again. The presenter was previously left with advanced Alzheimer's symptoms, following an operation to remove a brain tumour in 2024.

She was then diagnosed with breast cancer last year, for which she underwent a lumpectomy. McCall later shared that the cancer thankfully hadn't spread to her lymph nodes and she was on the road to recovery.

In today's podcast episode, the presenter joined forces with the British Heart Foundation for World Menopause Day to discuss women's health issues. She spoke to heart attack survivor Louise McGill, to highlight the importance of women's cardiovascular health.

During the interview, McCall revealed she has cardiovascular disease, urging her listeners to pay attention to their bodies and checked out.

"I wanted to let you know that I also have cardiovascular disease, and this is a very important conversation to have," she told McGill.

"I had high cholesterol, and I'd had it for quite a long time. It was deemed, because I had high good cholesterol, that it offset the bad. But actually, high cholesterol is quite a good warning sign.

"Anybody that gets sick, and when I had my cancer experience, you just suddenly feel vulnerable in a way you weren't before…Once you've been ill, you think 'Oh, I thought I was invincible.'"

The Masked Singer UK star also spoke to cardiologist and British Heart Foundation-funded researcher Dr Rouchelle Sriranjan-Rothwell about the link between menopause and heart health.

"Heart attacks and cardiovascular disease is rife out there particular in women post menopause," McCall pointed out, adding: "If there's one takeaway today, it's not to brush things off. Get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and if something feels wrong, listen to your body."
