Seth Meyers Developing New Workplace Comedy ‘The Game Room’ At NBC

EXCLUSIVE: Seth Meyers is back to work on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and he’s also busy working on a new project with NBC.

From Meyers and Michael Shoemaker’s production banner, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, the new half-hour workplace comedy The Game Room is in development, with Home Economics creators Michael Colton and John Aboud set to write, co-showrun, and executive produce the new project. Universal Studio Group, where Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions has an overall deal, is the studio.

The logline is under wraps.

The Game Room is executive produced by the aforementioned Meyers, Shoemaker, Colton and Aboud alongside Jason Carden.

In addition to creating the ABC comedy Home Economics and producing the show’s three seasons, Colton and Aboud co-wrote the animated film Penguins of Madagascar for DreamWorks Animation and A Futile and Stupid Gesture for Netflix. Most recently, they developed a SpongeBob SquarePants feature for Paramount Animation and are currently writing a film for TriStar. They are repped by CAA and Yorn Levine.

Shows Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions has produced include Late Night with Seth Meyers, A.P. Bio, The Amber Ruffin Show, Mapleworth Murders, and Good One: A Show About Jokes. The company, which was founded by Meyers and Shoemaker in 2017, has received multiple Emmy nominations, including four for Late Night with Seth Meyers: Corrections in the Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series category. Meyers is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum. Shoemaker is repped by CAA.
