KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — Malaysia is committed to playing a constructive role in supporting efforts to achieve regional peace and stability, including in southern Thailand, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said dialogue based on trust, mutual understanding and openness was crucial to paving the way for a comprehensive and lasting peaceful solution for the wellbeing of the people in southern Thailand.

Anwar said this in a Facebook post last night after receiving a courtesy call from Malaysia’s Facilitator for the Southern Thailand Peace Dialogue Process, Lt Gen (Rtd) Datuk Ahmad Norihan Jalal, who was recently appointed to the post. — Bernama
