Dragon Ball Z Officially Unveils Radical Vegito Redesign

Translate

James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

Dragon Ball Z's cultural impact has gone on far beyond the show's original runtime. Whilst it is scarcely believable to someone as old as me that the series drew to a close a little over 30 years ago at this point, it continues to crop up all the time in other adaptations and adjacent releases that want to capitalize on its continued popularity with fans.

The world of video games has been no exception to that rule either, where we have seen a bunch of games directly tied to the iconic work of Akira Toriyama. As well as being a lovely way to continue his enormous legacy, it's also great to explore Dragon Ball Z in other mediums, and a new release is about to give players the chance to do just that.

Dragon Ball Z

You might remember that last year saw Minecraft players blessed with an official Dragon Ball Z crossover, and that's set to continue in earnest right now. As first reported by Nintendo Life, a special "1.1 Legends Update" has been released, and it comes with a ton of new content and characters to enjoy as longtime fans.

The highlight of those is probably Vegito, the fusion formed by Goku and Vegeta in an effort to stop Super Buu. He's already one of the coolest characters in the show, and his latest makeover brings all of the unique style that Minecraft has become so well known for, with a few Dragon Ball Z twists for good measure.

Other new fighters include Bardock, Teen Gohan, and Gotenks, while the latest update also adds new battle areas and a custom tournament for up to eight players. The trailer for the new release is available over on YouTube, and it's safe to say that fans were delighted with what they saw.

"Okay, I was NOT expecting this collab. MC X DB is honestly one of the best and interesting collabs I have ever witnessed to come in MC," one comment read.

While another added, "Very proud to be one of few members seeing this first. This is the greatest collab ever."

"It's like describing peak to someone who's never seen it before and then asking them to improve it," a third said.

As mentioned previously, the update is available right now to those who already have the game and an active account. The DLC itself will cost you 1510 Minecoins to buy though, which roughly equates to around $9 (though you would have to buy the $9.99 pack to have enough for the release).

Dragon Ball Super Beerus's Goku Crunching His Fingers

Dragon Ball fans have plenty of other projects to enjoy besides that, if Minecraft isn't really your thing. The biggest is new anime Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, which just debuted in Japan this month as enhanced, redrawn, and re-cut anime series retelling early arcs. It's a nostalgic trip to some of the most peak storytelling in the genre by all accounts, so definitely give that a watch if you're a fan of the franchise.
