Negros hospital warns vs fake medical certificates, stolen credentials

Translate

BACOLOD CITY — The management of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here  issued a warning on Tuesday, Oct. 13, against the unauthorized use of its official medical certificates, prescription pads, and physicians’ credentials.

Dr. Joan E. Cerrada, CLMMRH chief, said in a public advisory that it has come to their attention that fabricated medical certificates and prescription pads bearing the hospital’s name and identifying details are being used by certain individuals to seek financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other government agencies.

It has also been discovered that the name, signature and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license details of a physician affiliated with the hospital are being copied and used without her authorization to make these fraudulent documents appear legitimate, Cerrada added.

The public is advised to exercise utmost caution and vigilance when presented with medical documents purportedly issued by CLMMRH, she said.

CLMMRH strongly condemns the fabrication, reproduction, and unauthorized use of its official documents and the misuse of its physicians’ professional identities and credentials, Cerrada said.

Such acts may constitute violations of applicable laws and may warrant appropriate legal action, she said.

To prevent fraudulent claims and protect the integrity of legitimate requests for assistance, the DSWD, other government agencies, and the general public are encouraged to verify the authenticity of questionable medical certificates and prescriptions directly with CLMMRH through the Medical Social Work Department (MSWD) at telephone number (034) 703-1350 local 818 and the Health Information Management Department (HIMD) at local 838, respectively, before processing any request for assistance, she added.

“CLMMRH remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of its official documents, protecting the professional identities of its physicians, and ensuring that legitimate requests for medical and financial assistance are properly processed,” she said. INQ
