Former president Rodrigo Duterte was physically present in Chamber III at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, The Netherlands on Tuesday morning (Tuesday afternoon, Philippines time) for the fourth status conference in his case.

The conference is set to discuss procedural matters in Duterte’s case. This marks his third appearance before the tribunal. His first appearance was via video conference.

His first physical appearance was during the third status conference in September.

The former president’s current appearance comes days after the ICC declared him physically and mentally well enough to stand trial.

Duterte was assessed by medical experts, saying that he showed no sign of worsening mental abilities.

The former Philippine president was arrested by Philippine authorities and turned over to the ICC in 2025. He faces charges of crimes against humanity in connection to the bloody war on drugs, which saw the deaths of at least 6,000 people. — BM, GMA News
