Resident Evil Fans United Over Perfect Live-Action Lady Dimitrescu Casting

Following her appearance in 2021's Resident Evil Village, the formidable Lady Dimitrescu soon cemented herself as one of the most recognizable figures in horror gaming. Portrayed by Maggie Robertson, Countess Alcina Dimitrescu was a mutant human aristocrat who ruled over Castle Dimitrescu and became known as one of the Four Lords of the region. However, during this time, the villagers soon began to fear her following reports of acts of murder and cannibalism. Seeing as this is a Resident Evil game, those reports do turn out to be true.
Throughout the events of Resident Evil Village, our protagonist, Ethan Winters, must evade her advances, as well as the onslaught of her daughters, but it is these advances that have made her as memorable as she is. Well, and her towering appearance.
Now, with 2026's Resident Evil hitting cinemas this week, it is no wonder that talk has turned to the future of the movie franchise, with iconic characters such as Lady Dimitrescu hopefully making an appearance.
Directed by Zach Cregger, the brand-new Resident Evil movie will follow the story of a medical courier who finds himself fighting for survival against bloodthirsty, mutated creatures across Raccoon City. Although the events are based upon those in 1998's Resident Evil 2, the movie is set to be an original story, but it has not stopped fans from thinking about sequels, and which iconic characters could make an appearance.
With Resident Evil already receiving positive reviews from critics, the future is looking bright for the Cregger universe, and it seems as though the director is also thinking ahead, following a recent comment made to Australia's PEDESTRIAN.TV.
During the interview, Cregger was asked who he thought would make a good live-action Lady Dimitrescu, and after some thought, he finally settled on Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, saying, “Yes! Christina Hendricks. I think I would go for that. That feels about right.”
With the director wanting to capture the game's vibe, rather than recreate some of the series' most iconic characters, it is unlikely that Lady Dimitrescu will be making an appearance in any potential sequel.
However, his comments did not stop fans from sharing their own thoughts on the potential casting, and they took to Twitter/X to put their own suggestions forward.
"Christina’s 5’8? Lady Dimitrescu’s 9’5? CGI will do the rest, bro," the top comment read. Another said, "I think Gwendoline Christie would be an awesome pick."
With other suggestions including Hannah Waddingham, Melinda Clarke, and even Rhea Ripley, it seems as though many Resident Evil Village fans already have their headcanons as to who should take on the iconic role. Of course, a live-action Lady Dimitrescu is unlikely to happen, at least under Cregger's watch, but it is still fun to speculate whilst waiting for Resident Evil to hit cinemas later this week.
