Reacher star Alan Ritchson splits from wife after 20 years of marriage

American actor Alan Ritchson, 43, and his wife, Catherine Ritchson, 42, have split after 20 years of marriage.

The high school sweethearts still have “love and respect” for each other, and their main focus now is co-parenting their sons, Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and 10-year-old Amory.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday (Sep 13), the former couple shared a joint statement, which read: “After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way.

“We grew up together. We built a life and family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the centre of our world.

“Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us – or the love and respect we will always share.

“The best gift we can give one another – and our boys – right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be. (sic)”

The Reacher actor and the financial analyst want to navigate their new lives as single people and co-parents privately.

They continued: “We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.

“Change is hard enough without the world weighing in. We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion.”

They concluded: “Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority – Cat and Alan (sic).”

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the War Machine star filed for divorce from Catherine Ritchson on Dec 1, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences”, before they reconciled on Mar 4 this year.

The pair first dated after meeting in a ballet class in Florida; he was 17, and she was 16.

On a 2023 episode of The Road to Wisdom podcast, Catherine Ritchson recalled: “I’ll never forget seeing him for the first time in the [dance] studio. I turned to my friend Miriam, and I said, ‘Who is that?’

“He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting.”

Years after their brief teenage romance ended, the two reconnected when she was in college.

They got engaged in 2005 and tied the knot the following May.
