A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after raping one woman and sexually assaulting another while on bail.

Olukanyinsola Odebode was described as “very predatory” and as having “humiliated and degraded his victims” before denying any wrongdoing and forcing them to give evidence during his trial.

According to Wales Online on Saturday, Swansea Crown Court heard that the offences were committed between June 2024 and September 2025.

Odebode sexually assaulted and raped one woman in the Gwent Police area before he was arrested and released on bail. He subsequently sexually assaulted another woman in the Dyfed-Powys Police area.

He was convicted at trial of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration before returning to court for sentencing.

Mark Wyeth KC, prosecuting, told the court that Odebode posed a danger to women and that his actions had caused “life-altering consequences for his victims.”

The prosecutor said a Probation Service report highlighted Odebode’s lack of insight into his offending and his “complete rejection” of the jury’s findings.

The report concluded that he “poses a high risk of serious harm underpinned by attitudes of entitlement,” the court heard.

The prosecution also referred to victim impact statements detailing the effect of Odebode’s actions on the two women.

One of the victims described him as “very predatory.”

The court further heard that seven other women had reported concerns about Odebode’s sexual behaviour to police since 2019, although those matters did not proceed to convictions.

The allegations previously raised included rape, indecent exposure, sexual assault and stalking.

Odebode, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, had no previous convictions.

His lawyer, Matt Murphy, told the court that it was hoped Odebode would develop greater insight into his offending while serving his sentence.

However, Judge Huw Rees said he had reached the conclusion, based on evidence heard during the trial and reports before the court, that Odebode was a “sexually precocious person.”

The judge said the defendant’s behaviour had a “profound” effect on his two victims and noted the concerns raised by a probation officer about his lack of insight into his offending.

Judge Rees ruled that an extended sentence was necessary because of the risk Odebode posed to the public.

Odebode was subsequently sentenced to a 12-year extended sentence, comprising nine years in custody followed by three years on licence.

He must serve two-thirds of the custodial portion before becoming eligible to apply for release. The Parole Board will determine whether he is safe to be released.

Odebode will also remain on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
