The Legend of Vox Machina might be coming to an end with the upcoming season 5, but that isn’t the end of their adventures in Exandria.

As the cast of Critical Role prepare for their upcoming London live show, we spoke to Liam O’Brien to find out what his Vox Machina character, Vax’ildan, has been up to since the end of Campaign 3 and to help unveil his new artwork.

Without giving too many spoilers for fans still catching up on Critical Role, O’Brien talked about how fans would find Vax after the dramatic events of Campaign 3.

The London live show, titled Red Moon Requiem and part of the Echoes of Exandria series of shows from Critical Role this year, brings Vox Machina back to the table at the London O2 on Monday 26 October 2026.

“I will say, I haven’t played Vax in a long time,” O’Brien admitted to Radio Times when we spoke to him.

“And it is gonna be fun/challenging or thrilling to figure out how he returns to the world. Because if you have followed all of our stories, you know that he has gone through some changes in the history of Exandria that has come so far.

"So, this is like a first return for him, so we’ll see. I’m excited to figure out, stumble around, in front of thousands of people.”

O’Brien also said that he didn’t exactly know what Vax has been up to since we last saw him, even less than a week before the live show would start.

“He was indisposed,” he explained, dancing around spoilers for Campaign 3 and the end of The Legend of Vox Machina. “Now he’s disposed. He’s a little disposed, so he gets the weekends off now.”

However, he did share the new artwork by artist Fred Rambaud ahead of the Critical Role live show this weekend.

Fans will find out alongside Liam O’Brien just how Vax finds his way back in the mortal world when Critical Role takes over the London O2 on Monday 26 October 2026.
