Two stoppage time goals enabled Japan to beat Uruguay 3-1 in an international friendly at the Miyagi Stadium on Thursday.
Kuryu Matsuki opened the scoring for the host in the 11th minute before Maximiliano Araújo equalised for Uruguay in the 42nd minute.
With the game locked at 1-1, goals from substitutes Kento Shiogai and Ayase Ueda at the death gave Japan the win.
Japan will next take on Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama or New Zealand, while Uruguay will face South Korea and India in the ongoing international break.
