[UPDATED] RoS confirms PN's deregistration

PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has confirmed it cancelled Perikatan Nasional's registration, saying the coalition's explanation failed to address the grounds for cancellation outlined in an earlier notice.

RoS said the decision was made under subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), after reviewing all documents and representations submitted by PN on Oct 12.

It said a notice dated Sept 22 had been issued to PN under subsection 13(2) of the Act, allowing the coalition to provide explanations and representations on the matters raised.

"After reviewing all documents and explanations submitted, the Registrar of Societies found that the reasons given failed to refute the grounds for cancellation of registration stated in the notice.

"They also did not provide sufficient justification to maintain the organisation's registration," it said.

According to the cancellation notice sighted by BH, one of the grounds was PN's breach of Clause 7.1 of its constitution by denying Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) the right to attend and participate in an emergency meeting of PN's Supreme Council on July 16, 2026.

The notice stated that the Registrar had considered the matter and the reasons submitted by the organisation's office-bearers but found them unsatisfactory.

"Accordingly, it is ordered that the registration of the above-named organisation be revoked with effect from the date of this order," it said.
