National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to increase ticket prices in April

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), located in (Old Cairo, will increase ticket prices for exhibition halls and restoration laboratories starting April 1st.

The decision was approved on Sunday, September 20, during a meeting of the museum’s board of directors chaired by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy – the specific new fee amounts have not yet been determined.

Current entry ticket prices are LE90 for Egyptian visitors, LE45 for Egyptian students, LE 550 for foreign visitors, and LE 300 for foreign students, with free entry for children under the age of six.

The board of directors also approved the code of conduct and booking procedures for school visits via the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ Rehla Portal.

Launched in November 2025, the portal enables schools to book free online visits to 112 archaeological sites and museums across Egypt, aiming to raise student awareness of the country’s archaeological and cultural heritage.

Since its opening in 2021, the museum established itself as one of Egypt’s most prominent museums.

It houses over 6,000 artifacts spanning various periods of Egyptian history, and bulk-purchased tickets will be valid for three months from the date of purchase.
