Carlos Queiroz has mutually parted ways with Ghana, the country’s football association announced on Thursday.
The decision comes after Ghana fell to a 2-4 defeat at home against Gambia in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) clash on Tuesday.
“This was not an easy decision, but both parties agreed that, under the present circumstances, ending our professional relationship was the most appropriate course of action, with the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football above everything else,” Queiroz said in a statement.

“The necessary conditions were not fully established, and our recent performance added to the decision to bring this journey to an end,” he added.
The 73-year-old was appointed in April and led Ghana at the World Cup. The team went on to secure one win, a draw and a loss in the group stage and advanced to the knockouts, where it lost to Colombia.
Queiroz leaves with a record of one win, two draws and four defeats in seven matches, with Ghana scoring five goals and conceding 10.
