Vinícius Júnior set to miss El Clásico after red card against Villarreal

Translate

Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed as they could be without Vinícius Jnr for their highly anticipated El Clásico clash against Barcelona on October 25, 2026, following his controversial red card against Villarreal.

The 26-year-old was sent off during Real Madrid’s La against Villarreal on October 10 after VAR reviewed an incident in which he pulled the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. The forward player goal was subsequently disallowed, and he received a straight red card.

There are reports that Vinícius faces a possible two-to-three-match suspension because the incident has been classified as potentially violent conduct away from a direct contest for the ball. Such a punishment could rule him out of the blockbuster meeting with Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The Brazilian forward has since apologised to his teammates and Real Madrid supporters following the incident. However, his availability for the upcoming fixtures will depend on the disciplinary committee’s final decision.

Real Madrid could appeal the suspension in an attempt to reduce the punishment and ensure the forward is available for the crucial encounter.
Vinícius’ potential absence would be a major talking point ahead of one of world football’s biggest rivalries, with supporters waiting to learn whether the Brazilian will be cleared to face Barcelona.

Vinicius' participation in the game against Barcelona remains uncertain until the official disciplinary ruling is announced.
