Euromatch NPFL: Finidi Revels In Rivers United’s Dominant Victory Over Kun Khalifat

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his team’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday five encounter on Thursday, Completesports.com reports.

Rivers United Dominate Kun Khalifat

Salman Abubakar opened the scoring for the hosts in the 27th minute with a superb strike from outside the box.

Rivers United created several chances to extend their advantage before the break but were unable to find a second goal as the first half ended 1-0.

The Port Harcourt-based side, however, stepped up their performance after the restart, scoring four more goals to complete a convincing victory.

Chijioke Mbaoma doubled Rivers United’s lead in the 49th minute, with Alex Oyowah providing the assist.

Abubakar then scored his second of the game nine minutes later following a fine team move to make it 3-0.

Wasiu Falolu added a fourth in the 62nd minute after being set up by Mbaoma, before substitute Ekene Awazie completed the rout six minutes from full time.

Finidi Reacts To Emphatic Win

Finidi admitted that he had expected a difficult encounter and was surprised by the margin of victory.

“I’m very happy with the result, especially the goals, as I was thinking it was going to be a difficult game. At a point, I had to go sit down,” Finidi told the club’s media.

“We will now look forward to the next match away to Katsina United.”

Gaffer Wants Consistency

Finidi also stressed the importance of maintaining consistency as the season progresses.

“We will continue to encourage the players to stay consistent because that is very important. We hope they can continue the same way because it is very important. We have big ambition this season,” Finidi said.

“We are having a couple of games coming up. We will play next week Monday, Thursday and the following week. So, it’s going to be a tasking week, two weeks for us. It’s going to be hectic for the players.”
