Tilly Norwood Malfunctions During Piers Morgan Interview: “Seems I Had A Little Hiccup”

Translate

Tilly Norwood, the “AI actress” who has provoked existential anxiety in Hollywood, got a bit glitchy during an interview with Piers Morgan.

Norwood, a generative AI creation from British company Particle6, switched language from English to Cantonese midway through the exchange, much to Morgan’s bemusement.

Fellow guest Tom Conti, the Oscar-nominated Oppenheimer star, was asking Norwood about her upcoming feature film Misaligned. “Are the other actors on the screen with you real actors? Or are they computer-generated images?” Conti ventured.

Norwood nodded, paused, and responded: “They’re all digital twins, just like me. It’s a hybrid production, which means….” Norwood then stopped and switched to Cantonese.

“I didn’t quite get that. Did you get that, Piers?” Conti smiled mischievously. Morgan asked: “You seem to be speaking Chinese completely randomly for no reason. Why did you do that?”

“It seems I had a little hiccup there … sometimes my wires get a bit crossed,” Norwood replied, adding that it was an uncommon error. “That was a bit of a curveball even for me. It’s usually a pretty smooth ride, but sometimes these things happen.”

Eline van der Velden, Particle6 founder and CEO, told Deadline: “Tilly can be a bit of a show-off — I’m guessing she just wanted to show her language skills as most of her interviews to date have been in English. She is autonomous after all.”

During the Piers Morgan Uncensored interview, the AI actress also recited Shakespeare and said she believed digital actors and real actors should never compete in the same Oscar categories. The full interview will be published later today.

Norwood has been on the publicity trail this week, participating in a press junket and appearing live on television.
