I’ll accept political appointment from Bawumia if it benefits Ghana – Nigel Gaisie

The leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has expressed his willingness to accept a political appointment from former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if it would contribute to Ghana's development.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, the clergyman argued that religious leaders should actively participate in politics and governance to contribute to nation-building.

According to him, the church has an important role to play in shaping national development, and prophets should not be excluded from political appointments.

“The church of God must be into politics,” he stated.

Prophet Gaisie cited Zimbabwean preacher Prophet Uebert Angel, who previously held a diplomatic appointment in Zimbabwe, as an example of how religious leaders can participate in governance.

“Prophet Herbert Angel is a pastor, but he holds a political appointment in Zimbabwe, so we should also look at the next phase of governance. We would see prophets taking political appointments,” he said.

When asked whether he would accept a political appointment from Dr Bawumia, Prophet Gaisie indicated that he would consider the offer based on its potential contribution to national development rather than the political figure making it.

“I will look at it; if it is a good appointment that will benefit the country, for nation-building, I will do it,” he stated.

The clergyman made this comment after he revealed that he had anticipated an appointment as a member of the Council of State or Minister responsible for Religious Affairs under President John Dramani Mahama's administration.

He boasts of being one of the prophets who predicted victory for John Mahama and the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.

“I was looking forward to that; maybe I would be a Council of State member or Minister responsible for Religious Affairs,” he disclosed.
