SEREMBAN: A police officer was arrested for allegedly taking a RM3,000 bribe from a couple to drop action over a fight involving their family member.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested at the district police headquarters at about 10pm yesterday, a source said.

The source said the bribe was sought as an inducement to refrain from taking action over the matter.

"It was in exchange for not taking action over a fight involving a family member of a couple," the source said today.

Preliminary investigations found that the offence took place on Oct 29 during an initial investigation involving the couple.

The suspect was remanded for four days until Tuesday by Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah following an application by the MACC at the Seremban Magistrates' Court 2.

Negri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest when contacted, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
