Logan's Run became a sci-fi smash hit, grossing a total of $25million after it was released in 1976.
Based on the book by William F Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, the film was set in a dystopian future where people are killed when they reach the age of 30, with Logan 5, a 'Sandman' tasked with hunting down those who try to escape their fate.
But after discovering the existence of a fabled place called Sanctuary, Logan begins to question the society he has sworn to protect and ends up on the run himself.
The film won a Special Academy Award for its visual effects as well as six Saturn Awards.
A spin-off TV series was also launched, with 14 episodes airing on CBS.

After starting out his career with the Royal National Theatre, the actor, now 84, secured his breakthrough role in the 1968 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.
He went on to star in a range of notable films including Something For Everyone, Cabaret, Lost Horizon and Murder On The Orient Express.
Following Logan's Run he went on to secure the role of Basil Exposition in the Austin Powers franchise.
In 2002 Michael received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame for his contributions to motion pictures.
He was also honoured with an OBE in 1996.
Michael tied the knot with his wife Patricia McCallum in 1968 after meeting a year prior.
Speaking in 2012 he revealed his hobbies are going to the opera, travel and collecting.
He told The Strand Magazine: 'I’m a bit of a magpie. I’ve been collecting stuff to do with the opera and the ballet. I love design drawings, costume drawings, set drawings, things that are later translated into something else.'
In 2013 Michael revealed he was suffering from a rare disease called amyloidosis, a condition where a protein called amyloid builds up in your body and can affect your heart, kidney, liver and nerves.
He underwent a stem cell transplant to help alleviate symptoms and in 2022 he and his wife moved to Minnesota to be closer to the Mayo Clinic for treatment.
