Having a luxury car in the driveway is key to selling your home, poll finds, with nearly half of Britons saying they have considered hiring one for a month to help complete sale

Almost half of homeowners looking to sell up have considered hiring a luxury car in a bid to make their property more appealing, according to new research.
A nationwide survey of 2,000 British people also found that 72 per cent of those who own properties in the UK believe having an expensive vehicle parked on the driveway would make their home seem more desirable.
Some 47 per cent of homeowners have considered hiring a Mercedes-Benz, while 43 per cent preferred a BMW and 35 per cent flirted with the idea of renting an Audi.
The research comes as it was revealed that two-thirds of landlords are planning to sell one or all of their properties.
But those looking to sell could face a loss on their investment, according to new tax data, with house prices continuing to suffer as high mortgage rates bite and buyers sit on the sidelines.
The national £298,441 average price of a property in the UK has remained unchanged this year, though homes in London fell by 2.2 per cent to £531,548. Meanwhile, in south-east England prices plunged by 2.1 per cent to £380,829.
And so homeowners with their properties on the market have begun thinking outside the box in a bid to convince a potential buyer, according to the new research commissioned by car rental company SIXT.
It was found that 44 per cent of buyers think a vase of fresh flowers being placed on a table makes a home more attractive, while 34 per cent would be wooed by a walk-in closet.

Thirty-four per cent of the survey also said that the smell of freshly made coffee could make a home seem more appealing. Meanwhile, 33 per cent could be convinced by the smell of freshly-baked bread.
It was also revealed that 88 per cent of buyers form an impression of a property within just seconds of their arrival, with most taking just 28 seconds to make a judgement.
And more than half (55 per cent) said the appearance of a property from the outside has a major influence on whether they would buy it, while 88 per cent agree that kerb appeal plays an important role in buying and selling a home.
Danny Groom, Associate Director and Estate Agent for Crabb Curtis, said: 'As an estate agent, I see every day what pulls people into a house.
'First impressions really do count and those little details, from a premium car in the driveway to freshly cut flowers or the smell of freshly brewed coffee, can make all the difference.
'It's no surprise to me that deciding whether a house is right for you can happen in just seconds.
'Viewing a property is a very personal experience and if buyers see the lifestyle they lead, or want to lead, in a house it can certainly speed along the decision-making process.
'House buying is a competitive process -both for the buyers and sellers, and this research really does go to show that small changes make just as big an impact as large ones when it comes to people putting in that all important offer.'
