P40.8-M shabu, guns seized; 3 suspects nabbed in Rizal sting

MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P40.8 million worth of suspected shabu and several firearms were seized from three suspects arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Taytay, Rizal early Monday morning, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

In a statement, the PDEA said it entrapped the suspects in Sitio Dulong Bangiad, Barangay San Juan.

The suspects were identified only as alias “Diogen,” 32; “Muhammad,” 31; and “Eddienel,” 43, all residents of Barangay San Juan.

An M1 carbine rifle, an M16 rifle, four caliber .45 pistols, two empty .30 caliber magazines and an empty caliber .45 magazine were recovered from the suspects, according to the agency.

The suspects were taken into custody, awaiting formal complaints for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act and RA No. 10591 or the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation act.

“The three arrests are important, but this is not where our investigation ends,” PDEA Director-General Isagani Nerez said.

“Our objective is to identify the people behind these transactions who keep the illegal drug trade moving. We will follow the evidence and pursue their network wherever it leads,” he added.

A fourth suspect, alias “Abdila” evaded arrest and remained at large. /gsg
