Emmerdale's Belle reassures Kammy after shock romantic declaration

Translate

Belle Dingle and Kammy Hadiq had a major relationship breakthrough in tonight's episode of Emmerdale. Their romance got off to a rocky start when Belle had to tell Kammy she accidentally swiped right on him on a dating app.

But his friendship proved essential to Belle as she recovered from her abusive marriage to Tom King, eventually blossoming into something more.

With Tom's impending release from prison and return to the village, Belle has once again been plunged into living in fear, with Kammy struggling to understand the position she's in.

But in tonight's episode, roles were reversed, and Belle was left reassuring Kammy of his place in her life after a shocking romantic declaration.

The latest instalment of the ITV soap began with Kammy absent-mindedly working at the garage, distracted with "a few things on his mind."

Sitting outside at the café, Chas Dingle asked Belle and Kammy if they had heard anything about Tom, to which Belle said they hadn't.

Kammy apologised to Belle for his behaviour yesterday with Cain Dingle after they disagreed over the seriousness of Tom's return.

He asked Belle if she was really okay, and she put on a brave face and said she is, assuring Kammy that he doesn't need to stress and it is "something she just has to deal with."

Kammy said that he needs Belle to know that he supports her, and told Belle he loved her for the first time.

Belle awkwardly says "thanks," causing Kammy to quickly rush back to work and leaving his girlfriend unable to cope with the sudden display of affection.

Speaking to Lydia, Belle admits that how she responded to Kammy was a problem, confessing that the idea of commitment is terrifying following her abusive relationship with Tom.

She was left worried she had ruined things with Kammy, with Lydia telling her that she needs to have an honest conversation with him about her feelings.

Despite her fears, Belle explained to Kammy that she knew her reaction must have hurt, and that it "isn't that she doesn't feel the same," but Tom's release has forced her to unpack things she thought she had unpacked.

Kammy apologised and said he knew it was a big deal, with Belle interjecting and saying she loved him but this was "her stuff" as she became exasperated.

Kammy was elated, and the pair embraced, with Belle looking emotional as she realised she had broken down a major wall in her recovery.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
