Puripol Boonson breaks Asian Games Record to win men’s 100m title in Aichi-Nagoya
Boonson dashed home in just 9.90s to win the race, going 0.1 seconds faster than his semifinal timing from just a couple of hours ago.

Thailand’s Puripol Boonson broke his own games record to claim the men’s 100m title at the Asian Games 2026 on Friday.
Boonson dashed home in just 9.90s to win the race, going 0.1 seconds faster than his semifinal timing from just a couple of hours ago.
His 9.90s is also the second-fastest 100m time by an Asian ever, only bettered by the 9.83s clocked by China’s Su Bingtian in the Tokyo Olympics.
Omani brothers Ali Al Balushi and Malham Al Balushi both clocked personal bests to finish second and third respectively to complete a remarkable family double.
Boonson didn’t enjoy the best of the starts and briefly appeared to trail the Al Balushis. But the Thai sprinter clicked into his rhythm at the midway point to accelerate past the rest of the field and breast the tape in record timing.
