The Cleveland Guardians could only muster three hits against five White Sox pitchers in Game 1. Now they face another bullpen-style game, but they get to throw a starter as Gavin Williams takes the hill for them. He went 14-8 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.11 WHIP for the season.
The New York Yankees are also down a game in the series, and they had even fewer hits than the Guardians did. New York had just one hit in Game 1, and that runner was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple. Now they have Cam Schlittler, the likely Cy Young Award winner taking the mound.
The Tampa Bay Rays went out at the trade deadline to acquire Freddy Peralta and he is starting Game 2 for them. Peralta has pitched well since September and he looks to give the Rays a commanding 2-0 lead over their divisional foes.
