The Commission on Worship of the Archdiocese of Cebu has issued a prayer that families can recite as they visit cemeteries for the observance of All Souls' Day or Undas next week.

"This order is a solemn commemoration of the departed whose bodies lie in a cemetery. It may be used for All Souls' Day, Memorial Day, on the anniversary of the death or burial of a particular deceased person, or when a gravestone or cemetery monument is erected," the Commission said in a social media post.

The prayer may also be by individuals when they visit a grave of a relative or friend or immediately following a Mass.

The leader for the prayer may be a deacon, a priest, a lay minister, or a family member.

The people are also encouraged to attend and offer Mass for the faithful departed.

Every year, on November 2 Catholics observe All Souls' Day or the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed and offering prayers.

Fr. Ritche Salgado OCarm, "is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and love for our loved ones who went ahead of us."

"We don't just remember them, but we pray for them, in our desire to help them to fully enter into God's presence, believing that when we die we still have traces of imperfection because of the sins and regrets that we carry with us," he said. — BAP, GMA News
