Sundowns captain sends a message to Chiefs goalkeeper

Speaking about Petersen, Sundowns‘ Williams acknowledged the difficult period his counterpart is currently experiencing but backed him to rediscover his best form.

Petersen enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign and established himself as an important figure for Kaizer Chiefs.

However his form has come under scrutiny this season as the Glamour Boys look to challenge for the Betway Premiership title.

Williams believes Petersen’s current struggles should not erase what he achieved last season.

“Brandon Petersen, he was amazing last season, now he’s going through things. But he will reach there again and that’s the nature of the beast,” Williams said.

The Sundowns goalkeeper also stressed the importance of supporting fellow professionals. Particularly in a position where mistakes are often heavily scrutinised.

“So I’m proud of all the keepers and I always encourage them to keep going. We must keep pushing our position even higher and higher,” he added.
