Strictly Come Dancing 2026 confirms Delta Goodrem to return after week off due to injury

Translate

Delta Goodrem is set to return to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor this weekend after sitting out a week with an injury, the BBC has confirmed.

The Australian singer, who has topped the leaderboard during this year's competition, was forced to miss Icons Week on doctors' advice.

A Strictly spokesperson said that under the rules of the show, she and professional partner Kai Widdrington would be carried through to the following week, where it was hoped she would be fit to dance again.

The good news was confirmed on social media, alongside an image of both Goodrem and Widdrington back in the training room, with the caption: "Following her bye last week due to injury, we’re delighted to confirm Delta has been given the all-clear to dance again this weekend.

"She’ll return to the Strictly ballroom on Saturday night, and Abi Clarke will pop into her rehearsal room for a chat on Training Room Diaries on Wednesday evening."

Goodrem said she was "absolutely gutted" to be missing the show last week.

"I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking, especially after the high of Saturday night," she said.

"I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I'm going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I'll be back on that dancefloor very soon."

She added: "Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It's so appreciated. I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta xx"

The singer had been one of the frontrunners before the injury and she will be hoping she hasn't lost any momentum when she heads out onto the dancefloor once again later this week!

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 24 October at 6:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
