The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) will submit its recommendation on whether former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez still needs hospital confinement on Sunday afternoon.

The PGH will submit its recommendation to the Sandiganbayan at 5 p.m. on Sunday after completing medical tests on Romualdez, according to Super Radyo dzBB reporter Pamela Adriano.

PGH Spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario said a group of specialists will also discuss the specific findings on Romualdez's medical test results.

Romualdez was brought to PGH in Manila from the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City on Saturday to assess if he needs medical confinement after an arrest warrant was issued against him. Otherwise, he could be detained at the Quezon City Jail.

The lawmaker was arrested on Monday at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, the same day the Office of the Ombudsman filed a P7.4-billion plunder charge against him and three others over their alleged involvement in a kickback scheme on flood control projects.

The PGH has vowed to provide an impartial review of Romualdez's health.

"Mananatiling obhetibo at propesyonal ang PGH sa pagsasagawa ng pagsusuri, alinsunod sa pinakamataas na pamantayan sa larangan ng medisina," the PGH said in a statement on Saturday.
