CAA Adds Agent Steve Roy to Motion Picture Literary Department

CAA has recruited agent Steve Roy to its Motion Picture Literary department.

Roy was previously at Buchwald, where he started his career as an assistant. He was promoted to agent in 2023. While at Buchwald, Roy’s client list included writers and directors such as Juan Pablo González (“Dos Estaciones”), Nicholas Colia (“Griffin in Summer”), Alan Scott Neal (“Last Straw”), Luke Shanahan (“Rabbit”), Kasper Møller Rask (“Norland ‘99”), John Strauss (“There’s Something About Mary”) and Scott Rashap (“Toru”).

Roy is based out of CAA’s Los Angeles office and reports to Motion Picture Literary department co-heads Dan Rabinow and Ida Ziniti.

In February, CAA expanded its agent and executive teams by promoting six staffers in its motion picture talent and sports broadcasting divisions. The individuals promoted were Casey Fraser, Kevin Goldfinger, Jonathan Granville, Joy Jiu, Katherine McConnell and Chris Meyer.

On the talent side, CAA recently signed Alicia Keys; showrunner Celeste Parr and her Punctuation Media banner; influencer Nara Smith; marketing executive Bozoma Saint John; writer Sophie Fleur and chef Kwame Onwuachi. CAA also recently signed Josh Wakely’s interactive label Grace Games.

George Clooney, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Alexandre Desplat recently headlined CAA’s “The Future of … Creativity” forum at Venice which, according to a press release, gathers “leading voices from literature, cinema, the visual arts and technology to explore one of the defining questions of our time: what is the future of creativity in the age of transformational change?”

CAA also recently launched Frame1Games, a venture to accelerate, fund and market indie video game projects. According to an official description, Frame1Games “pairs multi-million-dollar capital investment with a yearlong accelerator, giving developers mentorship from industry veterans and CAA executives and direct access to the partners and vendors needed to bring a game to market.”
