Angine de Poitrine Awarded 2026 Polaris Prize

Angine de Poitrine are this year’s Polaris Music Prize victors. The masked and polka-dotted duo took home the Canadian album of the year award for their math-punk LP Vol. II. They also scooped the prize for the best Canadian song of the year for “Fabienk,” making them the first act to score the double. Accepting the awards—which netted $30,000 and $10,000 Canadian, respectively—the duo’s manager Sébastien Collin said the attention directed to “music this rock-driven and this complex is unexpected, yet entirely deserved.”

Yves Jarvis was last year’s Polaris Music Prize winner, for All Cylinders, while the inaugural song prize went to Mustafa for “Gaza Is Calling.” The prize money comes via the Slaight Family Foundation and SOCAN. Other 2026 nominees included Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Rochelle Jordan, Peaches, and 2014 winner Tanya Tagaq.
